Practical guide

And tips

The start is at the "Chez Remy" tavern in Xhoffraix (Ruelle Adam, 1 – 4960 Malmedy).

Head down Ruelle Adam and turn left at the end.

The path narrows and continues its descent toward the Pouhon Valley. The descent ends with a set of wooden steps.

After crossing the Pouhon stream, follow it to the right.

A few minutes later, another stream—the Roannay—flows into the Pouhon. Cross the Pouhon (either by ford or bridge). Continue along the Pouhon for a few minutes before turning left to head up the Bayehon stream.

Ascend the steep-sided Bayehon Valley; after crossing the stream four times, you will pass the "Moulin du Bayehon" tavern.

The climb continues as you cross the road connecting the villages of Longfaye and Ovifat.

After crossing the road, continue along the stream, keeping to the left.

After a gentle climb along the valley floor, a short but steep section leads you to the Bayehon Waterfall, followed by a shelter 100 meters further on.

Pass to the right of the shelter and continue along a technical, slightly uphill section; then cross a forest track to pass by the "Vieux Chêne" (Old Oak).

After 50 meters, head up to the left to skirt the edge of the forest along the "Petite Fagne de Longfaye" moorland. Continue straight ahead to reach the highest point of the route, where you will find a shelter.

Continue straight ahead to begin the descent.

Take the first path on the right; it becomes increasingly rocky. At the end of the trail, continue straight ahead onto a wider path that keeps heading downhill.

After passing a gate, take a small path to the right, cross the paved road, and continue straight ahead, following the "Pouhon" stream downhill. After 900 meters, cross the stream, then go back up the steps and the path that leads you back to your starting point, "Chez Remy."

Conseils

Although it follows sections of the red route in Malmedy, this route is not signposted on the ground.
You must have the GPX file to import onto your watch or mobile phone in order to complete the loop.

Take the opportunity to grab a drink there, or at "chez Papy" in Longfaye, or at "Ce qu’on aime" in Mont.
